"When the student is ready, the teacher will present himself"
About MeHello,
My name is Jay Robaidek. I was born and raised on a farm in Angelica just outside Pulaski. My family ran a farm and a silo and farm equipment business. I attended ABVM K-8. My best teacher was my father and my favorite teacher was my mother. (completely different philosophy between the two) I graduated from UW Oshkosh in 2002 with a degree in History and attended the University of Concordia to obtain my teaching certification. For the last 9 years I have coached high school basketball and was blessed to be part of Pulaski's State Championship team. I have taught at ABVM for the last 6 years multiple subjects. My wife, Heather, is a labor nurse and is finishing up her masters. My oldest son, Griffin, is studying to be an accountant at UWGB. Gatlin is in 8th grade and Gabby is in 3rd at ABVM. |
Teaching Philosophy My #1 goal is that the student take ownership of his/her learning. We focus on how and why we learn and who is responsible for learning. My teaching style is always evolving and largely depends upon what the student needs. Through the use of "classroom economy" my classroom runs like a business. My main focus is on the process, as the results will take care of themselves when learning. I mostly subscribe to Project/Problem Based Learning where students work, usually in teams, to find solutions. I find it important to help students connect all subjects to each other, (most assignments are cross curriculum) and show how the material pertains to them. Our class is blessed to have access to new technology which allows us to go further than ever before and we use this as much as needed. My role in the classroom is mostly as a facilitator and a partner in learning. I take the job of preparing them for all aspects of their life important, what they learn outside of the classroom is just as important as what they learn inside, for that reason you will find that they will not receive an abundant amount of homework. Many students have extracurricular activities, and chores. I ask that you use your time with the student to educate and share your perspective on the things going on in your life. Lastly, I make class as fun as I can, I think I'm funny and students will learn not to take me seriously all the time. If I can't make this a fun year for your student and you, then I have failed. God has blessed me with great students, great parents, great colleagues, and great opportunity. God has sent me to deliver an important message to you, likewise he sent you to give me one, let's share that message with each other and those around us.
God Bless, Jay Robaidek |
